Mets edge Padres with Walk-off Home Run in 11th

Ike DavisJune 8th, 2010 – It was a rubber match indeed as the Mets took on the Padres at home this afternoon. The New York Mets started Mike Pelfrey versus Clayton Richard, but it was Elmer Dessens in extra innings who walks away with the W in this one.

The Padres put up the first run in the 1st inning when Adrian Gonzalez doubled to score Chase Headley. Jose Reyes tied the game in the 7th inning with a solo Home Run, which put this game into extra innings. Rookie call-up Ike Davis was the hero in the bottom of the 11th inning, blasting a walk-off HR to win it for the New York Mets with the final score of 2-1.
